CAMPAIGN LAUNCH PARTY

WHAT:         Bob Iyall is celebrating the launch of his campaign to run for Port of Olympia Commissioner, District 2.

This meet-and-greet event is a chance to get to know Charles “Bob” Iyall, a Nisqually Tribal Elder and the chief executive officer of Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation (MCEC). He is running for Port of Olympia Commissioner, District 2.

Currently, in partnership with the MCEC board of directors, he oversees the day-to-day management of all for-profit enterprises owned by the Nisqually Indian Tribe. Bob has a proven executive management track record and has successfully managed Tribal enterprises to provide maximum benefit to the Tribe.

Despite never having run for public office, Bob has been elected to corporate and nonprofit boards of directors, serving as secretary and chairperson on two separate boards. His experience has been in economic development and building a diversified portfolio of enterprises in construction, retail commerce, telecommunications and hospitality.

As a caring and highly involved member of the community with an expansive history of leadership positions, Bob will use his skills to target the needs of the port.

Nisqually Tribal Elder Bob Iyall Launches Campaign For Olympia Port Commissioner, District 2

June 28, 2021 (Olympia, Washington) — Bob Iyall has announced his candidacy for Olympia Port Commissioner, District 2. The Port of Olympia is a municipal corporation whose commissioners set policies and agendas. Once elected, each commissioner represents one of three districts in Thurston County and serves a 4-year term.

Bob’s intentions as District 2 Port Commissioner include refocusing the purpose and vision of the port, reviewing the current port plan to ensure efficiency in post-pandemic operations, carrying out the Port’s responsibility to heal parts of the local environment and maximizing community benefits while minimizing tax-payer support.

The general election will take place on November 2, 2021. Thurston County ballots will be mailed by October 7, 2021. Local voting centers will also open on that date.

About Bob Iyall

Bob Iyall is a Nisqually Tribal Elder and the chief executive officer of Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation. Iyall’s portfolio displays a long history of leadership in corporate and nonprofit business sectors. Bob has played a large role in the economic development of the Nisqually Tribe for over 10 years and currently employs up to 800 local community members. He grew up in Tumwater and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management.
