Bob Iyall is a candidate for Olympia Port Commissioner, District 2. He’s a Nisqually Tribal Elder and the chief executive officer of Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation (MCEC) where, in cooperation with the board of directors, he oversees the day-to-day management of all enterprises owned by the Nisqually Indian Tribe, including the Nisqually Red Wind Casino. Bob has proven executive management experience and has successfully managed Tribal enterprises to provide maximum benefit to the Tribe.
Though he has never run for public office, Bob has been elected to corporate and nonprofit boards of directors, serving as secretary and chairperson on two separate boards. His experience has been in economic development and building a diversified portfolio of enterprises including construction, retail commerce, telecommunications and hospitality.
Bob is a proven business leader, with experience guiding a large, diversified corporation.
As Olympia Port Commissioner District 2, Bob’s skills will be used to:
- Define and focus the purpose/vision of the port.
- Review and revise strategic plan, as needed, to focus operations in a post-pandemic world.
- Work effectively with local governments to properly accomplish the port’s stated requirements to heal parts of the local environment.
- Build operations on a sound financial basis, maximizing community benefit and minimizing tax-payer support.
